AHC: Keep Ireland independent

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to keep Ireland independent from English or otherwise foreign rule with a POD after 1066.

Have the maintain of a desunited Saxon England, slowly stabilizing with a specific variant of feudalism (with the constitution of earldom as the base of such system), a bit too busy to deal on their inner struggles, Welsh and Scots to really be able to go in Ireland.

That said, sooner or later, a dominant power in Britain is going to appear, and it's going to be interested on Ireland (being called to help by a local ruler as IOTL, if not simple conquest).

If somehow, you manage to have a dominant ruler in Ireland going trough a process similar to Davidian Revolution, and imposing it to the rest of the island, you may have a maintained Kingdom of Ireland comparable to IOTL Scotland before the Union.

Maintaining such independence up to nowadays, however, critically with an England that is more or less bound to be an industrial powerhouse thanks to its coal ressources..

I agree, that it would be quite likely that Ireland ends up in England's orbit, but it doesn't have to be conquered by it.

Having Ireland going through their own version of the Davidian Revolution would be interesting, but I do wonder, which ruler would have been able to pull that off?

Anyway a united Ireland would have been in a better position to (eventually) repel England; they probably would be in a better position than Scotland (provided a united Irish kingdom is formed).

Very old POD, ithsmus between France and England and Ireland becomes analogue of Britain

Ireland and Britain were divided by the rising seas much earlier than Britain and France. Ireland is not as genetically diverse as Britain for this reason, so even in a POD like that Ireland would still be an island long before the English Channel flooded and Doggerland sank
