AHC: John Boehner Republican Nominee for 2012

I don't think it's unlikely. If you look at some of the people who became frontrunners throughout the primary season, you could easily imagine Boehner winning the nomination. Santorum? Herman Cain? Rick "oops" Perry? Newt "I'm still here, and I'm still selling books" Gingrich? Bachmann? The only credible candidate was Romney who had lost in 2008, had been out of politics since 2006, his major accomplishment while being in politics was the exact same thing Republicans were running against (Romneycare), is a member of a religion most Evangelicals consider a cult, and had once said he's more liberal than Ted Kennedy. Boehner would have easily beaten any of those guys if he ran.

Also, have him run on reforming education, immigration, and health care (no more Republican Romneycare), as well as creating jobs and whatnot.

Name recognition is a great thing. If something forces Romney out of the race, he could certainly take over Romney's role.

Barack Obama is assassinated by a member of Al-Muhajiroun under the direction of Khalid Kelley, while on a presidential trip to Ireland on May 23rd, 2011.

Joe Biden takes the oath of office and, after a short address to the nation, begins looking for a candidate for Vice President. A month later, having met with the potential candidates and begun to cut away at the list, Biden begins suffering some familiar pains behind his neck. While he travels to the hospital immediately, the surgery is not enough to save him from the aneurysm, and Biden passes away on the 26th of June.

John Boehner unexpectedly finds himself taking the oath of office later that evening, knowing about the President's surgery but having expected success, much as many others had. Once seated, many Democrats and Independents had hoped that Boehner would pick among those candidates that Biden had been considering; ultimately however Boehner would nominate Chuck Hagel, who was deemed acceptable by both sides, and who also wished to avoid a fight in the wake of the recent deaths of both Obama and Biden.

Following Hagel's swift confirmation on July 17th, John Boehner was left with the dilemma of working upon a more Moderate platform, in respect to both the late presidents, or to follow the platform that he had been elected upon just ten months prior, a position endorsed by the new Speaker of the House Eric Cantor. By the end of July, America remained eagerly awaiting for the President to make his intentions known................

Onto the question.

The only way it could happen is the death of Obama and Biden, either at the same time or in quick sucession sometime during 2011.

I seem to be the only person in the world that likes and sympathizes with John Boehner.

I may consider his views abhorrent and immoral, but I sympathize with the fact that he's dealing with the most unreasonable politicians in the country and in some ways keeping them in check.

Try, somehow, to get him governor of OH in the mid 2000's. Maybe if 9/11 is butterflied away for some reason and Democrats take over the House ahead of schedule. This gives him less reason to stay in the House. Or perhaps he gets tapped to George W. Bush's Administration (ala Rahm Emanuel) and after he leaves the government, he goes and runs for governor or senator. Then he runs for the nomination in 2012.

Likely? No, not really. But it's less contrived than dual deaths of the president and vice president.

(3) The Republicans decide to give social media a try and start an underground campaign to turn Boehner into a meme based on his last name. After successfully doing so, they try to turn this into a full-scale political campaign - BOEHNER-WEINER 2012.
