Since majority of the threads seem to wank the Russian Empire/Soviet Union in alternate history scenarios, I decided to explore this topic in a different direction. How can Japan do better during the Russo-Japanese War, possibly winning the land war they were struggling in, and how could they do better against the Soviet Union in the battles of Kanchazu Island, Khalkhin Gol, and Lake Khasan? I know this is near impossible to accomplish, but is there any way they could repel the Soviet offensives in Manchuria, Karafuto/Chishima, and elsewhere in 1945? What would be the effects of consistent Japanese victories against Russia/Soviet Union? Perhaps Japan would have to abandon isolationism, and modernize and seek expansion earlier?
