With a POD between 409 and 1833.Make or preserve an independent Galicia.Bonus point for whomever manage to do that without making them a protectorate of Catile, unified Spain,Portugal,or Al Andalus.

Have King Rechiarius of the Suebi decide to annex the province of Tarraconensis, then the last remaining Roman territory in Hispania that wasn't under barbarian control instead of withdraw from it, giving the chance for the Emperor Avitus to send Theodoric II, King of the Visigoths, to regain the territory from the Suebi. Have them defeat the Romano-Visigoth coalition and there you have an Iberian peninsula dominated by the Suebi.

Yes but then i imagine it would evolve into a different political entity altogheter. It would be Spain under a different name and culture.

Doesn't seem to hard to have Galicia not be a protectorate of some Iberian nation, as long a Spain doesn't inherit Austria or something, I mean it's in the middle of Eastern Europe. I suppose some sort of rump Poland would work.

You can have the Suebi help the Alans in the first Visigothic incursion into Hispania in 418. Then they can survive by pitting their neighbors with one another, thus insulating themselves and independent. Basically keep the peninsula divided up to as many states as possible.

Dan1988 and I were discussing ideas on this matter a while ago. We were thinking about the kings of Leon allowing normans to settle Galicia in the early 10th century as a POD. PM him for details.

What the heck does Galicia have to do with Iberia? Also, the place has virtually zero tradition of independence, but I suppose it could be a Ukrainian state carved from a longer-lasting Poland-Lithuania if the Russian/Ottoman Empire has the rest of Ukraine. That or Bohdan Khmelnystsky gets his way.

Sound interesting. In the eraly 10th century also possibly mrant that the Norman invasion of England would be butterflied away so the UK as we know it would never come to exist.

One thing that limits the likelihood of this during the Middle Ages is that Leon would not agree to give up St James' tomb (and the lucrative pilgrim route behind it).
