AHC Hugenots not persecuted in France

Say the powerful french calvinist nobility and Huguenot merchant classes remained powerful enough to make it so hugenots wouldnt be proecuted. Is it possible. What POD would make this possible. Bonus points if you get France to have multiple Huguenot kings.

It would indeed be interesting - my brother's research suggests that the family name comes from a Hugenot.

After some quick Wiki-research, is it possible that preventing the Affair of the Placards keeps things civil in France?

another consequence (as no need to flee France)

No wine farms in South Africa (!)
Less rugby
No AWB (Eugene Ter'Blanche)

OK, On a serious note:

If there would be no need for going to South Africa, the Afrikaaner community would surely have looked vastly different. It would have been dominated by the Dutch, rather than the mix of Dutch/Hugenots.

I am not sure on this, but inspired by this thread, it suddenly looks as though the Hugenots (French names would depict it) married among themselves, and the dutch among themselves.

I am not sure, ok, but it seems yu do not find (generations back at least) a Botha married to Du Toit or Cilliers, etc.

The french protestant would need to be more subtle. By exemple, avoid to put during night protestant pamphlets everywhere in the palace inculding on the royal door, when the king was relativly tolerant.

Of course, trying to not engage a civil war supporting ambitious nobles because they converted themselves would help greatly.
