AHC: Holy Roman Empire dissolves during Interregnum

The Great Interregnum of the Holy Roman Empire lasted from the death of Conrad IV Hohenstaufen, Frederick II's oldest surviving legitimate son, in 1254 until the election of Rudolf I Hapsburg in 1273. During this time, the princes and electors consolidated their power and became more independent. Your challenge is to make it so no one becomes emperor and the Holy Roman Empire as an institution dissolves.

I'd call it ASB if only because of how important the Empire was to dynamic of Western Europe. It just helps to have that sort of institution in place.

At the time that would be even less likely, the power of the Emperor is only now being considerably weakened in comparison to the past. Remember, Emperors had actual power at a point in time. You don't just destroy a title that still has some teeth.
