AHC: Hispanic US President

Red Horse

The challenge is to have a Hispanic American be elected as President of the United States.

#MarcoRubio2016

He was a strong contender to be picked for Romney's running mate before he went with Paul Ryan.

So Romney instead did go with Rubio, Romney somehow beats Obama in 2012 and we currently have Marco as VP of the US. Who is probably now the strongest contender to secure the Republican nomination in 2020.

Of course this is all moot if he somehow does overcome Trump and Cruz to secure the 2016 nom.

What about Franklin D. Roosevelt, choosing New Mexico Senator, Dionisio "Dennis" Chávez, as running mate in 1940 rather then Henry A. Wallace?

1940 might be too early for Catholic Latin descent VP.

I think that Marco Rubio is very realistic thing. Or then if he next possible would be Julián Castro who could run on 2024 or 2028.

Henry Cisneros, former mayor of San Antonio.

In the 1980s, he had in his sights the Texas governorship and was being treated like a rock star among Hispanics. Not too much a leap to have him become president in the 90s or early 2000s.

He ended up being caught having an affair with his campaign manager, and the whole thing came crumbling down.

He either had to 1) keep it in his pants, or 2) have an organization around him that could make problems go away when he didn't keep it in his pants, like Bill Clinton's crowd.
