AHC: Hindu China

Just thought it would be fun to explore the possibilities of an alt hindu china ^_^ It doesn't have to be the majority religion and the PoD must be after Qin unification

There was and still is (iirc) a hindu presence in China going back over a millenia.
Depending on what you want I would have different answers, but this is OTL.

Well I meant a significant hindu presence. It is interesting to hear about an existing hindu presence tho, could you tell me more about this?

Not the best source for it, but there is a lot to cover RE it so it will do for now.

It is it would seem possible for a Hindu prosletysm has demonstrated by ISKCON, and the Gaudya Vaishnavism of Iskcon (whilst a Bhakti movement) does have roots and parralells going back quite early. I could see a Krishna worshipper arise with a similar theology and philosophy much earlier in a non-Siddartha world (although the religion would likely be very different due to the butterflies and the later composition of the Bhagavad Gita) and have a large appeal in China.

I will elaborate on it more if I have time, but by and large religions excell in China where there are ideas in common; Buddhism was fortunate to already have emptiness as part of the chinese philosophical world for example. Likewise, I could see a Vaishnavite Hinduism developing complex political philosophies in competition/parralell with Confucianism.

Here are the necessary PODs:
Large Indo-Aryan migration into China. There were some. Probably limited to Khotan and Sogdia as even Tocharian City states were fully Buddhist and even the former two were Buddhist with some Hindu influence. If you consider Buddhism as a subset of Hinduism as many do,then possible with this conditions if these spread the faith or colonize and make a stable Empire. If you could have Indo-Aryans settle in the Xinjiang and the greener regions in the West Central China, could be possible though quite difficult to achieve.
Another is of a Missionary oriented Hinduism. Difficult to achieve with that core theology. This again needs a POD somewhere near the Indo-Aryan migrations as Hinduism became a religion with ethnic aspects harder to reform as time went on till crystallizing at around the Gupta era. So what all could be possible at that time and any major reform possible in the eras inbetween has to be investigated.
The geography was too much a barrier to have a free exchange of people from both sides which could spread the religion otherwise. That anyway is ASB.
