In my line of thinking, only if and when they reach Burma.
Burma or Bust!
In my line of thinking, only if and when they reach Burma.
If the Germans side with the Japanese in this Pacific War, they will have little ability to get significant numbers of troops to the Pacific. Facing two massive navies, and the USSR getting in the way, does that to people.
The Luftwaffe was major component in the success of the early German attacks, no or minimal investment in the air force (which I don't think Germany could or would do anyway) means no air cover, no reconnaissance, non of the tactical disruption that so aided the Blitzkrieg in Poland and France. Many of Germany's problems were logistical, and irresolvable w/o massive changes to German industry and the Nazi party. The Air Force lets them Project power along a different axis where more ground forces would only clog the roads and their already over-strained logistical systems. You can't just remove a fundamental component of the Blitzkrieg and expect it to carry on as before. How about Goering dying (pick a reason) early, with no resulting Luftwaffe as a separate organization, and with those resources going instead to the Heer and the Kriegsmarine. This would have made little change to the effectiveness of the Heer, but might have allowed the Kriegsmarine the opportunity to actually develop an Aircraft Carrier, and more support Vessels to create an Ocean Going Navy.
The War continues, but without Dunkirk (No Luftwaffe) as a success, but instead as a disaster. Churchill, after not agreeing to a separate French Peace, somehow has an Accident, and does not make it back to the U.K. alive.
The U.K., after witnessing France agreeing to a Peace treaty, and being offered "fair" terms, also agrees and the War in Europe is over.
Hitler mean wile develops some type of relationship which results in a child, and so rather than continuing to pursue war, decides to pursue the building up of the Reich, into a type of Empire. The U.S.S.R. can wait, he is building a Dynasty.
War reparations from France involve the transfer of several Resource rich colonies to the Germany. This includes French Indochina. War reparations from the Netherlands include the Dutch Far East.
The U.K., settles down to simply watching the world go by, and focuses on keeping its Empire running.
Germany deals with its "living space" problem by using forced transportation, following the U.K.'s model for Criminals, but without trials, for Political Prisoners, Homosexuals, Jews, Romani, All the French speakers from Alsac-Lorraine, etc. to the new greater Reich colonies.
These colonies are under the administration of the Reichskolonialbund, with a significant Kriegsmarine Military port being placed somewhere in the Dutch East Indies.
The transported peoples form a second class group of workers, whom support the German population and are used to help exploit the local population.
Hitler is happy with his now productive empire, which has plenty of oil, flowing by tankers, up and through a nice neutral Suez Canal.
So, whom is going to attack those new Far Eastern possessions? And when?
A totally different approach: In december 41 Hitler sees a chance to cause frictions between the USA and Britain and declares war on Japan for its cowardly attack on the "Aryan brothers" in America. Britain now fears that the US won´t declare war on Germany any time soon and starts peace talks. Due to the German commitment in the East and Hitlers Anglophilia they get a favourable peace treaty, which includes German support for the recapture of the far eastern possessions. Thus late in 42 some German infantry and air force units start to arrive in East Asia together with British European troops. Challenge solved.![]()
So if Germany declares war on Japan when they attack Pearl Harbor, does that mean the Germans might end up helping America defend their other colonies as well? Although keep in mind that Hitler by now may have some negative views on the USA in general.
