AHC: Have the United Kingdom Win the Cod Wars

I find it quite odd that the UK managed to lose this "war" in the first place, but I don't know a lot of about it.

So, make it happen! Let the Royal Navy crush the Icelandic patrol vessels! :D

Bonus points are awarded for actual casualties and sunk boats.

At the end didn't the Icelanders threaten to withdraw support for the NATO base if pressure wasn't put on the UK.

I imagine that it would go worse for the UK diplomatically if the RN had to shoot unarmed tugboats.

Because it wasn't a war despite the name it was just a squabble over fishing rights. The idea that the Royal Navy would blow coastguard vessels out of the water is plainly ludicrous doubly so as both countries were NATO allies.

Possible times when Icelandic ships could be sunk

Second Cod War:
V/s Ægir rams HMS Scylla, Scylla opens fire and sinks V/s Ægir. (June 7 1973)

Third Cod War:
V/s Þór is actually sunk after it is rammed by Star Aquarius (or it rammed Star Aquarius) (December 1975)
V/s Þór sunk by HMS Andromeda after one of them rammed the other (January 1976)
V/s Týr capsized and sunk after being rammed by HMS Falmouth after being spotted trying to cut the nets of a British Trawler (May 1976)

These are just from Wiki. The problem with any escalation is that the UK and US may then have to hold Iceland, or at least the Air base with force.

For a second I thought the challenge was to have the UK win the COLD wars and was wondering why the RN was going to war with Iceland :p
