AHC: Have Rhodesia formally join South Africa between 1964-1979

How would this occur? And also, Ian Smith needs to be in charge of Rhodesia at the time and be the one who agrees to do so. And how would this affect the Bush War? How is South Africa's economy impacted? (Now that it is technically contiguous on all sides because South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe form a very small but existing triangle-like shape. It's contiguous.) How are domestic South African politics impacted with a larger percentage of Anglo voters/reduced percentage of Afrikaner voters? Would Mugabe try to connect with the ANC? How would the international community react? Would this extend apartheid or would apartheid end sooner?

South Africa didn’t want Rhodesia, it was too English for the Afrikaaners. There was also no formal apartheid in Rhodesia, if you were a black African who owned land you could vote, not a big percentage but but not totally insignificant. My wife is Zimbabwean, her dad was killed by Mugabe’s forces in the Bush War because he was the only black African member of Ian Smith’s Government. Life was very bad for black Africans in Rhodesia but it was very different to South Africa.
