Can you please elaborate on this?Central Powers Belgium in WWI seems the most likely, if not perhaps exceptionally likely.
Can you please elaborate on this?
Why exactly would Germany split its own ally, though?I'm not enormously familiar with Belgian history, so I'm sure someone can do a far better job, but 1) I'm not sure how likely a post-1872 POD is that sees Belgium allied with Germany and 2) I'm not sure that, even if such were the case, TTL's Treaty of Versailles would split Belgium in two (presumably the Netherlands gets Flanders).
Why exactly would Germany split its own ally, though?
Oh; OK.I was assuming Germany still loses.
Oh; OK.
However, how exactly do you have Belgium be stupid enough to actually ally with Germany?
AHC: Have France annex Wallonia with a PoD of 1872 or later.
Also, no Nazi victory scenarios, please.
What about having the Red Army conquer Belgium, the Netherlands, and all of Germany in 1945 and then have Belgium break-up and have Wallonia join France after the collapse of Communism in 1991?Like I said, it's not the most likely scenarioBut I can't think of anything more plausible to get French Wallonia.
That actually makes sense; of course, Britain would certainly be pissed off as Hell by such a German(-Dutch-French) move! After an early WW I victory, which involves the Dutch jumping in at the last moment, the Germans throw Wallonia to France as a bone after Germany has annexed the Briey-Longwy area and a couple of French colonies (Holland gets Flanders).
But would the USSR still collapse on OTL's schedule (or at all) given the extra resources and geopolitical power it gains by holding West Germany and the Low Countries? What about having the Red Army conquer Belgium, the Netherlands, and all of Germany in 1945 and then have Belgium break-up and have Wallonia join France after the collapse of Communism in 1991?
Maybe; indeed, the USSR's structural economic flaws were very real. Heck, even if the USSR survives for an additional two decades, we could see a reunification of France and Wallonia between 2011 and 2017 in this TL!But would the USSR still collapse on OTL's schedule (or at all) given the extra resources and geopolitical power it gains by holding West Germany and the Low Countries?
So, have Belgium fall apart?"A poll in the France Soir newspaper this week found that, should Belgium fall apart, a comfortable majority of French people would be happy to annex Wallonia." https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/jun/11/belgium-election-wallonia-flanders
How exactly do you make Belgium collapse, though?Easiest way is that Belgium collapses to Wallownia and Flanders between WW2 and 2000. Then Wallonia joins to France.
