AHC: Have Anatolia be considered European

Then the world would be a better place, as with byzantine empire still strong enough that huge mess in Balkans and Caucasus would be avoid. and then in 20 century byzantine/eastern roman empire would become a federation similar to Russia but with democracy. and no ottoman empire, no Armenian genocide.

That would all be butterflied away. Who's to say we wouldn't have some horrible new genocide in that same place? We don't even need to go that far into the future actually, what about the Mongols?

I echo what others said with an add-on.

A surviving Byzantine Empire (assuming Basil II's borders for the sake of our argument) helps a ton but I feel that either no Great Schism or some sort of reconciliation (the former is easier I think) between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches would be the icing on the cake.

If all of Europe, including Anatolia, is one Christian denomination no reason who Anatolia wouldn't be considered Europe.
