AHC: Have a socialist revolution break out in Great Britain after WW1

When I wrote about a hardliner getting into power, I meant politically. Fuller was only "involved with fascists" after his military career ended. He also turned down Command at Tidworth in '27 to concentrate on his mechanised warfare theories, so would be unlikely to enter politics before that.
Maybe the Fourth Duke of Wellington who was a Fascist Sympathiser and a BUF member could get into politics, although I'm not sure how.

Also I've thought of another POD that is before 1900 but could help, Albert Victor doesn't die in 1892 and is still alive when Edward the VII dies. He still acts like his father having parties, sleeping around and acting foolish even has the war goes on alienating his subjects. Maybe he has more conservative views than his father.

King George V with his rather more modest and unassuming behaviour made him more relatable to the people of Britian during and after the War (particularly the middle class). Albert could possibly anger the working and middle classes if he acted like a fool.

I think fascist from minute one makes their election much harder to sell. Almost hand waving or ASB even. I meant a Tory/Imperial Liberal “hardliner” in a sense of someone willing to send in the troops in numbers rather than try diplomacy and “half measures”. The idea is escalate slowly, moving step by step to fascism as the end point rather than straight in from the get-go.

If you want to write that, feel free. I’m not a fan of “so and so who died young, before fame/office/a chance to understand them ends up living to affect the TL” scenarios. Too much like deus ex machina for my liking. That and I think it overstated the power of the Monarchy in WWI-era politics. Sure, it will make the crown unpopular, but the left-wing extremists will want a monarchy even if everyone’s favourite uncle was on the throne.

I think during the early 1920s he was a Conservative with a bit of harsher Conservative Imperialist view of the world (similar to Rotha Lintorn Orman) he only truly went down the Fascist rabbit hole later. Now a Tory/Liberal hardliner could be Churchill, if he was given the Home Secretary job he could more easily implement his Anti-Revolutionary methods easily, of course you need a Prime Minister willing to sign off on it. I'm not sure who that would be.

I was just mentioning it as a possible suggestion. It was mainly because King George the Fifth much like his father did a lot to distance the Royal family from the affairs of state so a different Royal could impact that.

Now I'm wondering who would be the major members of a Socialist Revolution, of course members of the British Communist party like Arthur MacManus and the Independent Labour Party like James Maxton would likely join but I wonder what Labour members would be involved, probably David Kirkwood, John Maclean, Ellen Wilkinson, Herbert Morrison and Manny Shillwell could be some candidates who could feature prominently in the Revolution.
