AHC: Have a POTUS tarred and feathered

Back in the good old days, when the citizens had enough of their money grubbing tax collector, they'd simply break into his house, douse him with tar and then cover him in feathers.
"That'll show him!" they thought.

So the challenge is to come up with a historicaly sound PoD that has a pre-1900 POTUS experiencing the same.

1000 points if you can make it George Washington.

I don't exactly know how to make the Whiskey Rebellion more widespread and powerful but the answer lies there.....

Radicalize the countryside to the point certain government officials back it and real militias join in.....

With an ultra-radical (they already were praising the French Revolution and there were calls to secede and even bring the gullitone) whiskey rebellion that either:
1. Has enough men to fight a pitched battle against Washingtons force that marched into western Pennsylvania that they won capture Washington and tar and feather him
2. Maybe Washington goes as an envoy of peace and then gets tarred and feathered

it would be very very very hard for all this to happen

The War of 1812 goes a lot worse and when Madison is hiding somewhere after the British have taken Washington he gets tarred and feathered by the locals.

You could probably have a articles of confederation president tarred and feathered.

Maybe Herbert Hoover by the bonus army?

Post-1900 presidents might be bit difficult to tar and feather when they are strongly protected.

But one intresting possibility is that economy is even worse on end of 1830's and Martin Van Buren is tarred and feathered. Just wondering what kind of sequences this has.

An idea for a post-1900 one is perhaps an increasingly liberal/socialist USA, and a far-right or maybe AnCap group that get a little upset at the increasingly "anti-American" policies, and use tar and feathering as a way to show that they are true Americans, like the people who rebelled who tarred and feather British garrisons, etc.
