AHC: Guinea pigs a common source of meat outside South America

With a POD no earlier than the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire, how could Guinea pigs have become a common source of meat outside of South America?

The issue is that there are better sources of meat which are easier to grow and provide a lot more meat. Now, it is much easier to carry and care for than other meat domesticates, and you could get somenomadic group picking them up as a prolific and carryable source of food, but it would probably supplemental.

Evolution and Geology subjects are in ASB as notified above. So can this happen without altering that or any other ASB magic?

Guinea pigs were good enough eating that they did it in the Andes in OTL, why not elsewhere? We eat other stupidly small animals like quail.
