You challenge is to come up with a plausible ATL in which the Guanches of the Canary Islands become as powerful as possible, and in which at least one Guanche state or kingdom retains its independence to the present day. What's the most powerful that the Guanche could have feasibly been in an ATL, in your opinions?

Well they don't have long of a history there and in all likelihood they were slaves who ended up on various islands by seafarers with maritime tradition.

But I imagine with limited metal and lacking a deep seated maritime practice you wouldnt get much out of them. It wouldn't turn into a Polynesia that's for sure but say as the dessication of the Neolithic Subpluvial that pushes humans to the Mediterranean where they create good relations with seafarers and create ships and quickly migrate to the Atlantic settle and form trade relations with Iberia and West Africa by the early middle ages you might get something.

Tbh European colonialism seems absolute unless a navy is built of great magnitude and they don't convert to Islam or remain "pagan"
