AHC: Golden Dawn and Senkaku Islands start WWIII

So, having been following the news on the Golden Dawn in Greece and the arguments between China and Japan on the Senkaku/Diaoyu islands I got to wondering if the third World War could be started by having these two issues become more dominant.

Your task is to come up with a plausible way for one of these issues to explode like a powder-keg and start the next world war. Bonus points if you can tie both issues together and make the war a huge one, involving pretty much every nation on the planet.

Simple. Make the Recession much, much worse.

John McCain is elected in 2008 and, with a fairly hands-off attitude towards the economy, allows it to backslide even further (contrasting even with the paltry progress made by the Obama government OTL). The world economy implodes as the American economy does. Greece especially suffers, as do Japan and China. The Arab Spring explodes a year earlier, leading to the establishment of Muslim Brotherhood-led governments in Egypt and Tunisia. Libya becomes an unstable, but firmly democratic state which keeps hold of firm ties to Europe and the United States. An alliance of Greek rightist parties led by Golden Dawn seizes power in Greece in early 2010. Turkey intervenes in the Syrian Revolution (and quickly becomes bogged down) leading to threatening postures from China, Russia, and Greece. The United States and the European Union, after much fretting from every side, decides to support the Turks. This only inflames tensions. As a sideshow, the Chinese begin to adopt an aggressive posture towards Japan and Taiwan, even as the North Koreans begin further inflaming tensions on the peninsula. Japan refuses to back down over Senkaku, while the Taiwanese government inflames tensions further by seeking aid from Vietnam and the US (which they half-heartedly receive). Finally, in the summer of 2011, as wildfires destroy thousands of acres of crops in Russia and the United States and among hugely rising discontent, Greece declares war on Turkey. Five days later, China obliterates much of the Taiwanese air force on the ground, while the rest of the air force is embroiled in a desperate battle against Chinese fighters and missiles. The ROC navy is taken by surprise, but puts up a stern defense against the PRC's ships. Senkaku is taken in less than two hours, while missiles (not nuclear) are launched against major Japanese cities. North Korean forces storm across the border. A day later, Russia declares war on Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. Egypt declares war on Israel concurrently, leading to war from Russia, China, Syria, and Greece on Israel. Greece is expelled from the European Union. The United States, the European Union, and NATO declare war on Russia, China, Syria, Greece, and North Korea. By September, South Korea is restricted to a small area in the south. Ukraine and Belarus, which have thrown in their lot with Russia, have almost taken Poland in conjunction with Russian forces, while Israeli troops fall back from the south. As a last-ditch attempt to save Tel Aviv, Israeli nukes are launched towards the Aswan Dam and Syria. Almost 90% of Egyptians are killed in the ensuing environmental disaster, while the Syrian army is almost entirely annihilated. In the aftermath, the remains of the Egyptian Army are destroyed by Israeli forces. Spurred into action by the first nukes, North Korea launches a nuclear weapon on Japan, which is intercepted and destroyed by American fighters. Despite this, the South Korean pocket begins to collapse quickly. American forces, gambling on the element of surprise, launch nuclear weapons on China and North Korea. Russia and China retaliate, while the other nuclear powers get in on the action.

And then...silence.
