Was it plausible for the Germans to overthrow Wilhelm II 18 months earlier than IOTL? If they did, would the new government begin to seek peace? I'm wondering this because there's a consensus that the Russian provisional government collapsed and Lenin took over due to the extreme unpopularity of the war.

1. Sure.

2. Hell no, considering the overthrow of Wilhelm would have had to have been done by the clique of generals who were effectively running the nation at that point and for whom it would be suicide to accept the surrender terms the Entente were offering at the time.

1) Conceivable (there was a naval mutiny a bit later in the year) but unlikely. Hindenburg had just assumed supreme command and a lot of Germans worshipped him as the hero of Tannenberg. They haven't given up on victory yet.

2) It might try, but there's no likelihood of success. The Entente's demands will be more than any German can accept, so they end up having to fight on. unless the Revolution has led to a total collapse of morale so that Germany cannot continue.
