AHC: French Alsace for German Lorraine?

I was thinking, it could be plausible a scenery where in the French-Prussian war aftermath, Bismarck could agree to leave Alsace and Strasbourg to the French and take instead Lorraine in full as warprize, or in the interval between said conflict and WWI after long deliberations, Germany and France agreed to a land swap (return of Alsace in exchange of concession of Lorraine)? I post the thread as AHC because, maybe it could be interesting to formulate some possible alternative proposals...

I don't think so... Alsace was the part with the highest amount of German speakers, whilst Lorraine was more French. Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely then doing this would be a bit backwards?

Not only is that border ugly as hell, Alsace is strategically and economically far more important than a few more inches of Lorraine.

Agreed. It'd be far more likely for the Germans to trade the part of Lorraine they were demanding for Belfort, thus completing their conquest of Alsace. It wasn't just that the Germans saw Alsace as German territory, but more strategically, occupying both banks of the Rhine was paramount to their war aims.
