AHC: France Punished after WWII

Is there any realistic way for (1) the Allies collectively or (2) Western Allies only to punish the French for the Vichy regime and Nazi collaboration after the War?

Bonus points if you do it in a way that doesn't drive France into the Soviet arms.

I'm thinking it'd be a combination of a much smaller free French contingent, combined with a Quisling-style betrayal of the BEF leading to capture/destruction.

If there is active French involvement in the Axis, then yes. I mean if Vichy show how got the public to sign on to defeat Britain and fought the Allies the hard way until conquered. AKA: ASB

Vichy troops encountered American troops in North Africa. Also Allied troops battled Vichy troops in the Middle East. This campaign was largly unknown to the public and medially less covered , for the Allies (Britain/Commonwealth and Free French) feared the public´s opinion/confusion regarding military enemyship between Allies and French troops.

Sure, they fought a bit, but even if Vichy forces for some reason fought all out for the entire campaign France will not get punished for their actions post-war, especially after Operation Anton. I mean the Vichy Forces in Syria-Lebanon and in Madagascar fought harder than in Morocco-Algeria in 1941-42 and no one cared in the end.

Also, the Free French under DeGaulle were an active part of the WAlly effort (not a huge one, true), and the post war government was more DeGaulle's movement than Vichy remnants.

To change that, you'd probably need a weaker Free French movement (probably smaller, certainly with a less powerful leader), and (probably has to be and) Vichy being an actual ally of Germany, not the nazi-inclined neutral of OTL. Even Vichy got a better rep when the Nazis invaded the rest of France and put the whole country under occupation.

Ooo...
Have the Free French leader be a proSoviet communist, and have relations with the Soviets be trashed earlier.

When the Allies invaded French territory.

If there was no substantial Free French movement, no putative government-in-exile controlling French territory beyond the metropole, and if Vichy was actively waging war against the Allies, you might well get this. This, I would note, requires two separate issues: Even without anything like a Free French movement, the odds that Germany et al would let Vichy France remain a military power actively waging war on Germany's side are low. What possible interest does Germany have in keeping France as a military power?

They have no interest, there would be a risk to be stabbed in the back.
