AHC: Feminine Monotheism

How could there have been a religion with a single goddess, that is, a monotheistic religion that genders their deity as female instead of male? Depending on how we bring such a religion about, and that it does very well for itself (in the given context), what would it look like?

(As for when our PoD is, I’d prefer earlier - say Late Bronze Age, or Late Antiquity at the latest.)

Did you see "Dogma"?

Well theres definitely no shortage of goddesses flosting around to choose from.

It might be easier if this is religion comes to be in during the bronze age collspse, though maybe not

Maybe a cult of Gaea from Greece ends up being mixed with Platonic ideals and other things from other religions to make something new?

A cult of Gaea that wants to combine learning about the universe and developing science, along with taking care of Earth at the same time? Gardens are encouraged, so if a building gets too old, it is torn down to make room for green space. Material that is recyclable is preferred, along with more research on how to recycle stuff?

Yeah maybe. Whole mother goddess sort of stuff

All hail the great mother. I'm pretty sure these theories are out of date, but i remember reading that masculine theism is the result of indoeuropean invasions. I guess you could give their herds polio or something.

Yeah, the history of the goddess movement is kinda funny.

The original proponent of the ancient goddess and matriarchy system was super sexist believing this hypothetical time to be dystopic untill 'men saved the day'. The Goddess movement took the same hypothesis, but said it was utopic ubtill men ruined everything.

Sol Invictus is a dude. You should be praising the moon.

There are some solar goddesses though...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eki This one could be interesting if the Basque ever got a good hold of themselves and it could spread from Iberia to across North Africa and so on.

Another could be that instead of Yahweh, we get this goddess: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shapash

One of the Hittites survived longer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arinna

If I had to pick one, it'd be Shapash becoming the patron deity for what would be Judaism and have that go from there

She's literally in league with Baal though. I thought we were looking for henotheist or pantheist female deities that could eventually become dominant enough to be worshiped unopposed?

It;s just asking for a feminine monotheistic figure? Sun worship is a common practice and if a minor war god like Yahweh could ascend, maybe someone like Shapah could as well and such
