AHC : Eurobowl more popular than the Eurocup

Specifically have American football popular in Europe. It's somewhat popular central Europe ( i.e. Germany ) as noted from a German exchange student who stayed in my friend's house. So how about a challenge having American football ( Eurobowl ) quite popular than football ( Eurocup ) by today. This will be quite difficult, but it's not implausible.

Any shots ?

One major obstacle of Football's early popularity was that it was mostly a college sport and it was it was considered bad to play it for money. An earlier centralized professional league would help. Conversely, a less centralized FIFA might help soccer be overtaken eventually by American Football.

Another change, albeit a very major change, could be an earlier American involvement in WWI. We saw baseball explode in popularity and spread after the Civil War when soldiers played it when not fighting. If we see an extended presence of American troops in Europe, they might play it, and it could become decently popular in Europe afterwards.

I think with a POD after 1900 makes it very difficult, since by then soccer is very engrained into Europe by then. But not impossible.
