AHC: England humiliated in 100 years war.

The challenge if you choose to accept it, is to have the first part of the 100 years war go so badly for England that France occupies decent chunks of England by the time the first truce comes about.

I don't know enough about the early part, but didn't Edward III and the Black Prince fight in the same battles? Having them both killed in battle, which would also presumably dispose of the more senior nobility (captured, or killed in a Flodden style) would leave England ripe for invasion. This would be especially so if Scotland is not subdued within this period, meaning what remains in England would have a Harold II type of scenario, whether to march against the Scots then turn South, or risk dividing already weakened forces

Best regards

First, you'll need a french flotilla. You had OTL French naval victories during the war (Battle of La Rochelle by exemple) and raids on english shores (making the english fearing an implausible, at this point, french invasion), but it's happening during Charles V reign.

A french victory at l'Ecluse/Sluys seems a good PoD. French commander, Béhuchet, refused to consider genoese commander (Barbavera) to sail at sea in order to being stuck in estuaire. Admittedly Béhuchet wanted to block Edward III's forces, but he didn't had the place to manoeuvre and boarding and fight on ship themselves was the common sight.

It seems that the flemish fleet joined later, thanks to a favourable wind. I don't know how much this is ASB as a PoD, but without this one or with a dalayed reaction, it could have turned slightly better.

I don't think anglo-flemish fleet could have been beaten ITTL as franco-genoese was IOTL. Still it would prevent their dominance on Channel, and therefore the possibility of raid continuations.
If Valois, as Charles V did OTL, understand the need of a strong fleet both in Channel and Biscay, English could have troubles to move their forces and, more plausibly and importantly, to maintain them.

That could prevent partially some continental issues and lack of ressources needed elsewhere.

OTL, Charles VI's studied the possibility of a invasion of England. It was prepared and troops gathered on both sides. Would the king not convinced by the Duke of Berry to postpone the invasion (if it still happen while the french navy knew a more long period of stability and growing), you may end with a tentative.

Now, historically, there was a support (while limited) made to Owain Glyndŵr as Prince of Wales (a title formally recognized by french court).

It may be possible by making
- Anglo-Flemish naval dominance challenged from the start
- Campaign on France harder to maintain
- Valois more interested on navy, as Charles V did
- Charles VI not turning mad, at least not that quickly

to have a french invasion of British Isles. As it recquires several PoDs and many butterflies, it's really unlikely to depict the plausible outcome of the campaign.

Now, I doubt they would ask for large chunks of territory in Britain : their line was to kick english out of continent, and admittedly to places allies in British Isles.
The best you could have would be :

- Wales and Irish lordships independent from English crown (while it would be hard to do so for Ireland, lack of real way to enforce it)
- Scotland expanding south-wards, maybe up to Carlisle and Starthclyde
- France taking all english possessions on continent, Channel Islands and if they do very well, Isle of Wight

But I doubt that french, as english, would have the ressources to undergo an annexation of large chucks of the other kingdom.

This is a period of history I should really read up more on.
Thanks for enlightening me as it fascinates me just how French this country of mine can become.:D
