AHC: Earth

Your challenge is simple. Have, at any one point:
1) All land on Earth be effectively controlled by any 1 sovereign entity.

Apart from the sovereign entity being made out of humans (specifically, Homo Sapiens) and not cleverly redefining Earth as a separate planet, there are no other limits. Go wild!

Just to clarify, it's acceptable if control is achieved post 1900.

Not possible. Any nation can't hold all different cultures and nations. Conquering all of them is totally impossible. There is just too many different cultures and logistical problems.

Never said you had to conquer them, nor did I ban the reduction in the number of cultures. In that, grim dark scenarios are totally fine. Also, the resultant empire does not need to be stable at all. Even if it collapses, the very unification of Earth at any one point is acceptable for me.

1984? Some say that there is already a world state in that and/or you could have Oceania, Eastasia or Eurasia conquer the other two. Frankly any post-Nuclear Dystopia could lead to a one world state imo.

Iberian Union survives.

Elizabeth I marries heir to the Iberian throne.

A personal union now covers Iberia and Britain, and pretty much all of the New World.

At some point, a progressive monarch reforms the kingdom into a democratic "Imperial Federation"; adult "white" males have ten votes each to everyone else's one, thus maintaining the superiority of the elite under a democratic guise.

The Imperial Federation, with its massive superiority over the world, is pretty much the sole victor of colonialism, winning almost all of Africa, India, and China.

One by one, as the European countries undergo revolutions, the Imperial Federation uses their instability to annex them and remove dissidents.

Voila, a world government.

Later, the IF would use much propaganda to solidify its popularity over the world, like "Human First, Nation Second". It took a long time before the white male voting advantage was finally eliminated, though.

This World Government would eventually cause everyone to speak one language, following the unprecedented connectivity of the Internet.

Future historians wonder whether this unity and massive cultural death was inevitable. Maybe we shall never know.

The next instalment shall come at a later date.

just wank the US or the British Empire by the tiniest bit.

The question is how you want them - Wank them insufficiently and all you'll get is a world of superstates scenario. Most of the world unification time lines I see are in ASB land, involving alien conflict and/or ASB intervention. So I wanted a non-ASB method.

Sometime in the late 19th century the major industrialized and imperial powers (Britain, France, Germany, Russia, the USA, Italy, Austria-Hungary, the Ottoman Empire, and Japan agree to divide the earth into well-established and recognized spheres of interest and to not interfere in other nations spheres. This international agreement later morphs into a more formalized international body to support each other against radical socialist revolutionaries and nationalist/anti-colonial risings. Eventually a federation arises.

More nations learn how to build nukes , so that the majority of Europe, a good amount of Asia, the strong nations of the Americas, Australia, and several African states have nukes. Then a nuclear war breaks out billions die and billions more die in the nuclear winter. One group of people survives and claims the whole world. Bam!

This seems the most plausible IMO. I think that if WW1 is avoided it is possible for such a thing to happen on its own, like the EU but on a much larger scale and with a more central government.

The Congress of Vienna becomes an actual congress. The US is invited, the Latin American nations are also invited or their revolution fails. Colonization is wanked (maybe because of a overarching sense of 'mission civilatrice') and the congress eventually evolves in a government. By the late 20th century, Earth is effectively a single state.
