Too far, why hire Chinese or Indians when you could buy African slaves or use European indentured servants?
 
At what point did the British start bringing Indian workers to Trinidad and Guyana? Could that be done earlier, and from there bring them to the 13 colonies?
 
I can't see abolishment happening much earlier. Before industrialisation it would be pretty difficult and in early 18th century slavery was seen very normal. You would need much earlier rise of abolition idea.
