Your challenge is to have the United States go to war with Spain in the early part of the 19th century, and win. The dispute should ideally be over any/all of the following territories: Louisiana, Florida, Mexico, Cuba. POD should be after... 1776, for a nice patriotic number.
Bonus points are awarded if:
- The US rhetoric is about as noble as that of the historical Spanish-American War.
- The actual war is about as expansionist as the historical Mexican-American war (in that the goal is pretty obviously territory and not a string of allied states)
- Louisiana is in Spanish hands at the time.
Feel free to:
- Derail or butterfly any aspects of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic eras of France, if it helps.
- Embroil Spain in any major European conflicts, if it helps.
- Have any European major power subtly helping America, if it helps.
- Have the Revolutionary War go better for America, if it helps (successful Canadian expedition(s)).
Have at it.
