AHC: Earliest Anglo-American Reconciliation

How early could the Americans and English have reconciled after the American Revolution? In OTL it took modern warfare and Britian being in desperate straits to call for help, how could you get the two to reconcile sooner? The earlier the better?

Avoid Hamilton losing his duel against Burr and have him challenge Jefferson in the 1804 election and you could easily have an Anglo-American reapproachment complete with American participation in the Napoleonic Wars and avoidance of the War of 1812. Sure, the US fought together with France during Jefferson's presidency, but with Napoleon now as Emperor I could see an "ideological split" between the two states, especially considering Hamilton's Anglophile tendencies.

...that's not necessarily true. The Special Relationship had its roots in the mid-19th century, and came to fruition by the early 20th, as both were strong imperial industrial powers with a common ancestry.

Because Hamilton was such a major player when he died. Not a political burnout whose own party had turned its back on him.

1798.

Just have America's Quasi-War with France turn into a real war. This will make the US and Britain co-belligerents, if not allies.
