AHC: Dutch settlements on Oregon

Today's challenge. With a PoD in the mid-1700, have Oregon be colonized by the Dutch. Bonus points if they get cut off from the VoC or the Dutch mainland and develop their own "trekboer" culture, or even "Amerikaaner Republiks". Extra bonus if you get at least a few actual Boers into the colony.

User galanx made a similar development by having the Brits settle it through the Sea Otter Trade. I'd like to know how plausible this is.

First off, how active were the Dutch in the Pacific in OTL? I can't think of significant explorations there, other than around Australia/New Zealand. Perhaps have the Dutch beat the British to an Australian colony, from which Dutch explorations of Polynesia could eventually provide a network of outposts that could reach the then-sparsely settled Pacific North America. But this hard with a POD of c. 1750, because the Spanish and British are already showing an interest in the region that would become Oregon, not to mention the Russians.
