With a POD no earlier than 1800, is it possible for (most) of Britain's east and south African colonies and protectorates to be ruled under a single dominion, similar to Canada, Australia, and others?

The "core" of this territory would cover modern-day South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, South Sudan, Somaliland, Seychelles, and Mauritius. Some regions could be excluded, just so long as most of them are included. Bonus points if some regions like Katanga or Somalia could also be included.

Would it be possible to include Nigeria, Egypt, or other colonies in any way? In OTL, I believe regions as disparate as Aden and Malaya were administered from India at various different points.

Here is a rough map of what it would look like:

I have seen plenty of threads about the possibilities of other dominions, especially in India, but couldn't seem to find anything along these lines. If it's too hard to be a full dominion, it could be administered as a singular colony or some equivalent instead.

Jared's Decades Of Darkness TL has a concept like that, but it involves mainland Britain being successfully invaded, forcing the government to flee.

I think that more white settlement might make that more possible
I have thought of that, and agree to an extent. With a relatively recent POD, it would be possibly to have much more white settlement in South Africa (perhaps making it a penal colony instead of Australia would help). There are also regions throughout Kenya, Zimbabwe, and elsewhere that could have attracted much more colonists from Europe or elsewhere. I've heard Malawi and Rwanda-Burundi also have good climates, but are also very densely populated by native Africans.

However, most of the colony/dominion would not be suitable for settlement, and wouldn't have a need for it. There is a common misconception that more whites = more success, economic, political, or otherwise. I don't think Britain would have a problem with the dominion/colony keeping its black majority, and if anything would probably prefer to settle a lot of regions with Indian colonists instead of European. The OTL South African Dominion never had a white majority.

While I've heard a lot about it, I have to admit I haven't actually read that TL yet. It would be an interesting concept to bring the British monarchy to Africa ala Portugal in Brazil, but how realistic would it be? If Canada and Newfoundland aren't available, then I'd imagine they'd much prefer a Caribbean possession or even Australia.

Bump.

I'm also wondering where the best location for a capital would be. For a lot of the 19th century, I believe South Africa had a larger population than the East, so perhaps that would have drawn the capital further south.

Maybe Lusaka? It is fairly large and centrally located, but further to the south.

A POD of before 1800 is going to have so many butterflies to change those borders.

Namibia was also never a British colony or protectorate, and Tanzania only became one after WWI.

Good point. Perhaps not the exact city, but a similar location could be really good. I guess it would depend on where the rail lines connect, instead of specific geographical areas.

Oh I'm aware the borders wouldn't be the same, especially the internal ones. It's just to give a rough idea to its shape and area. Depending on the POD, the British could have gotten both Namibia and Tanzania before the Germans showed up, or could have simply taken them in a war just like OTL.

I've also been wondering what this could also entail when it comes time for independence.
