AHC: Different Actors starring in TV shows

1. Why has EVERY post until cwf1701 focused on Star Trek, Galacticaa and other SciFi series? Boring!

2. Re Cwf1701's post. In the case of Gunsmoke, ASB. William Conrad as Marshall Matt Dillon?!!!! Remember that James Arness was the personal recommendation of John Wayne hisself, since a movie star of Wayne's stature was too august a personality to do a mere TV series in 1955.

3. Now, remembering that Peter Graves was James Arness's brother, lets reimagine Star Trek with Peter Graves as Capt Kirk, Martin Landau as Spock, Barabra Bain as Cinnamon Uhruru, Greg Morris as McCoy and Peter Lupus as a differently ethniced Sulu. Now we have Mission Impossible with Shatner as Mr Phelps, Leonard Nimoy (who did replace Landau) and Nichelle Nichols as the disguise experts, DeForest Kelly as the brainiac and George Takei as a martial arts expert in place of the circus strong guy. If you consider Star Trek a straight up quasi-western action series, why not Peter Graves as the veteran, no-nonsnse captain, and in 1966 I believe that Landau and Nimoy would have been considered as interchangable parts. Let it sink in, Graves as Kirk and Shatner as Phelps! Actually, if Shatner was 6 inches taller I think he would be a great Herman Munster- that really fits his acting style.

Fred Savage as Eric Matthews in Boy Meets World
Rider Strong as Scott Erickson in Saved By the Bell: A New Class
Jaimee Foxworth as Ashley Banks in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Carlos Mencia as Ray Garcia in The Brothers Garcia
Hugh Laurie as Perry Cox in Scrubs
Donald Faison as Michael Richard Kyle in My Wife and Kids
Damon Wayans as Dr. Turk in Scrubs
Chris Rock as Tracy Jordan in 30 Rock
Aaron Staton as Nicholas Brody in Homeland

There's actually a Scrubs episode where they make fun of House by having Dr. Cox adopt some of House's mannerisms--the cane, the chalkboard, etc.

One I heard that would be interesting - after Genevieve Bujold quit Voyager, they considered going back to a male captain and were considering Nigel Havers for the role.

Some British ones:
Hugh Laurie as Harry Pearce in Spooks.
Peter Davison as Boyd in Waking The Dead
James McAvoy in the BBC's latest Robin Hood
A bored government passing the 'Everything is Better with Baker and Blessed Act' requiring the appearance of Tom Baker or Brian Blessed in every British TV series.

Rowan Atkinson as Gregory House in House, MD.
Hugh Laurie as Gil Grissom in CSI.
Christina Cox as Olivia Benson in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
William Shanter as Steve McGarrett in Hawaii Five-0.

More Nick/Disney switcheroo casting:

Meaghan Jette Martin as Sam Puckett in iCarly
Nick Jonas as Freddie Benson in iCarly
Demi Lovato as Jade West in Serendipity (AKA Victorious)
Vincent Martella as Robbie Shapiro in Serendipity (AKA Victorious)
Joe Jonas as Beck in Serendipity (AKA Victorious)

More on Buffy. Ryan Reynolds was originally offered the part of Xander, but turned it down. It then was offered to Nicholas Brendon.

Some different casting decisions in Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Charisma Carpenter as Buffy Summers
Sarah Michelle Gellar as Cordelia Chase (She actually was orginally cast in this role but managed to convince Whedon to cast her as Buffy)

Re: William Shatner as Adama in TOS Battlestar; Glen Larson has always said that he wrote the part with Lorne Greene in mind, just as Ron Moore wrote the part of Laura Rosliln with Mary McDonnell in mind.

If Lorne Greene was either not interested or died a few years earlier, Glen Larson could have chosen a different actor.

Hmm....
Yeah. Pierce Brosnan almost played Bond in The Living Daylights.
He couldn't get out of "Remington Steele"... Which is why he did the "Pepsi ninja" ads.

Also, what about Dick Van Dyke as Kirk? (Doing humor is harder than it looks...) And how about Erica Gimpel ("Fame") as Misty Knight & Kelly Hu as Col Wing?:cool::cool:

And if Harmon is O'Neill, that means Richard Dean Anderson is SA Jethro Gibbs, NCIS.:cool: (Gibbs, with a sense of humor?:eek::confused::p)

James Bond could've been very different

At the beginning of Thunderball's filming Sean Connery walked out and Cubby Broccoli was going to film The Man With the Golden Gun with Roger Moore instead.

Then in the 70s, the replacement for Lazenby was going to be Michael Gambon.

Then of course, Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan were both considered for James Bond earlier.

Yeah. Pierce Brosnan almost played Bond in The Living Daylights.

Remingtin Steele had been cancelled, but when it was announced that Brosnan was gonna be the new Bond, the show was renewed, and they held him to his contract.

Graham Crowdon or Ron Moody as the Doctor, both were asked.
