Otto of Saxony falls invading Italy and the title of Roman Emperor (thence HRE) is never restored.
Later Kings of Germany solidify their rule but the country is later divided into the Kingdom of Saxony in the north and Kingdom of Bavaria in the south.
In the late 1100s Bavaria gets gobbled up by Burgundy and Bohemia whilst Saxony is inherited by a strong King of Denmark who proclaims himself King of the Danes, Wends, Franks, and Saxons, the Great King of the North, and rules from Oslo to Kassel.
