AHC: Democratic Russia pre-WWII

The Provisional Government was doomed by October (November) 1917.

The best way to have it survive however, is to have them either continually fight a defensive war and essentially keep their promise or pull out of the conflict entirely.

In the end in OTL "peace, land, and bread" were the main concerns of the masses.

That, and the slogan "all power to the soviets"

It can be said that from the July Days onwards the odds were increasingly stacked against the Provisional Government.

The July Days protests saw thousands in the streets protesting for soviet power, something which the Mensheviks and/or Socialist Revolutionaries wouldn't implement owing to their allegiance to the Provisional Government.

The attempted Kornilov Putsch was one last nail in the coffin of the Provisional Government. The Bolsheviks and other leftists were able to make the claim that Kerensky and co. were attempting to dissolve the soviets, further straining the waning legitimacy of the Provisional Government.

After that it's only a matter of time before the build up leads to either a revolution (as in OTL) or a counterrevolution.
