Regarding Vietnam, a "revolution" must be the result of
a few reasons happening in the same time. And being a Vietnamese and it was after 1975 (a PoD happened before 1980, leading to an ATL), I wonder if it's democratic or "
democratic"
Short of a chain effect triggered by an invasion, I see no reason for a revolution (unless it was triggered by black-op from
some intelligence agency(ies))
- Pol Pot attacks Vietnam. Not as a massacre or a border skirmish (like in OTL) but an outright invasion - aiming to exterminate all Vietnamese living in the present day southern region of Vietnam. The attack would be highly likely to be repelled, but the damage was done
- The remnant of the SaiGon regime (the one who was able to stay out of re-education camps, one way or another) used the attack of Pol Pot as an excuse to illustrate the "worthlessness" of the communist government
- The remnant of the Irregular force (formed by CIA) consisted of minority ethnic groups (search for H'mong in Laos with CIA) exploited the situation to "disrupt" (OTL, there was a movement called FULRO tried to be a "independent Central Highland" from Vietnam - it ended with their death and failure)
- The PRC, sensing the chance, attack Vietnam from the North (same action, but different time [may be] from OTL)
- The US (the not-US) broadcasted more and more messages about democracy and revolution (compared to OTL) and sent real support (weapons, tools...) to Vietnam (it may or may not happen in OTL. But I recalled a mission of Vietnamese police in those days confiscated a crap ton of fake money)
