AHC: Cyber Missle Crisses?

In the wake of allegations that the Chinese have been cyber attacking the US, I have been wondering... What could/would the Soviet Union, or NATO do to opposing force during a cyber attack? Would this just lead to relatively minor diplomatic tension like otl, or major international crises like the Cuban Missle Crisis or Abel Archer 83 that could end in WWIII?

The Warsaw Pact exist to at lest the same extent it did in the early 1980s, there is a Soviet, and American Internet that are comparable size and scope, and lastly the Warsaw Pact is not using the China model. It can mildly reform, but must stay in a command economy.

Depends on if they can prove it. There are a lot of rumors that for instance the CIA pulled off a cyber attack on the USSR in the 80's that had results visible from orbit, but the USSR never really responded in kind

Unlike with the Cuban missile crisis there would be no proof, no photographs of missiles. Yeah their would be whatever the results were, but how do you prove that was the US or USSR, hacking is not missiles, any state and non state actors can do it. If the person gets caught in the act, odds are they get treated like any other spy
