AHC - Costa Rica as a Colombian Puppet

While looking at some old maps of Colombia for a timeline, I noticed that Colombia once controlled Costa Rica's East Coast

This made me wonder what if Costa Rica fell under the influence of Colombia. What if Colombia attempted to annex Costa Rica or establish a Puppet government?

That is a very interesting idea seeing that in pre-colonial times the indigenous cultures of the center and north of Colombia where descended from the natives of the southern parts of Central America. This proves that there has already been a very well established and long-lasting connection between these peoples. Seeing as the Colombian government was much larger and much more respected on the international scale due to its success after the wars of independence it would be very viable for Costa Rica and even Nicaragua to fall under Colombian influence if only Colombia can avoid going down the path of instability and civil conflict that resulted in the Colombian government losing its ability to project its power.
