AHC: Communist Mosley

I know it might not really change a lot but it seems that there are quite a few "what if x was fascist/communist" threads and there was a recent DBWI Mosley thread so I thought I might give this a go.
Basically, how can you get Oswald Mosley to become a communist instead of a fascist? POD should preferably be around the time that Mosley became a fascist in OTL, but even better if you can get Mosley to become fascist and then cross the floor (as he often did) to communism.

Mosley becomes a fascist, but is unimpressed by Hitler and feels that Mussolini's corporatism needs to be worked into something greater. He is able to meet Otto Strasser, and we get social-fascism as an actual thing.

Then, the Night of the Long Knives happens, Mosley disavows Hitler, and when the war ends, he finds a vigorous Soviet Union and a decaying Old Labour British Empire. Stalin's late authoritarianism appeals to him, especially after his first love of Mussolini gets beaten down by the Allies.

Interesting scenario.
Perhaps in this scenario, if he's still healthy and active in his later years, he becomes an even more controversial figure than in OTL as he starts to become an active proponent for communism during the Cold War? Or perhaps he just moves to the Soviet Union following his release from prison and the end of the war?

It would depend on what he thinks of Khrushchev.

Well, perhaps this Mosley would prefer a more authoritarian, Stalinist type communism as you've said before. IIRC OTL Mosley was against war, but who knows how different Commosley would be. Maybe at some point he thinks that a Hot War would be inevitable in a similar vein to World War 2? If not this then I think it's possible he could still move to somewhere like France and set up his own communist party, and he might still be the centre of attention during the Cold War for being an active supporter of communism. He probably becomes a British republican too, unless he comes up with a strange Mladorossi-type ideology.

The trouble I have with this scenario is that Mosley seems to have been a very ambitious man indeed. He got pretty high up in the Labour Party but threw a tantrum when they would not Worship At The Altar of His Cleverness.

At that point he can choose to go right of the Tories (pretty much empty space) or left of Labour (full of communists). The communists had a bunch of leaders already and as I understand it there was no room for a new Big Cheese unless Stalin ordered them to make room. And why would Moseley want to be a lackey for Stalin? If he’s going to be a follower he may as well stay in Labour.

So IMO you need to have a solid British Fascist grouping leaving no room for Moseley, and a more fractured communism with weaker influence from Moscow that will tempt Moseley to make a grab for leadership. Which sounds kind of bizarre, tbh.
