Im not sure. The Lebanese Civil War lasted from 1975 to 1990. During the 1985 census muslims were 75% of the population, this percentage has declined allthough it still more than 50%. The 1932 census showed that muslims were 49% of the population, while christians, druze and jews compromised most of the rest of the countrys religious.Wasn't that the case prior to the Civil War?

Possibly if it was smaller.
The area within the dashed line was the Mount Lebanon Mutasarrifate. If France didn't integrate the rest of Lebanon into it, then it would be Christian majority.
If I'm not mistaken they had some concerns regarding both its economic viability and a desire to include the Christian majority areas that were near yet not in the Mutasarrifate. But looking at the map it would seem that relatively minor border adjustments could have achieved a good deal in both regards without reducing the majority too much.I never did quite understand why France did this. I guess they wanted to make their state have as large a population as possible to make it "stronger"? But I feel like if you want to make a Christian state, you shouldn't start with a fairly good Christian core and then keep slapping Muslims* onto it until it's just over half Christian. It's not hard to imagine that migration or demographic tendencies will destroy that 53% majority quickly.

Wouldn't stop the growth of the Shia and Sunnis anyways.Seal the borders in 1948 and prevent exiled Palestinians from settling there.
