AHC: Chinese Minority Rule in Southeast Asia

So, as it says in the title. With a POD of December 7th, 1941, have a country in Southeast Asia run by a Chinese minority, preferably Indonesia or Malaysia.

Bonus points if you make the Malays lose the Malaysian Emergency despite Western intervention.

No, Singapore does not count.

Lanfang Republic survives as a buffer state due to screw ups in the Anglo-Dutch relationship post-Napoleonic Wars.

Just realized this was the post-1900 forum (and read the OP;)), but I'm gonna put this out there anyway.

PS-this possibly butterflies away Singapore.

December 7th 1941 is too late.

What about Vietnam? Small Chinese minority, but outsize influence and power in business. Maybe a type of plutocracy dominated by wealthy Chinese in Vietnam? The other option might be some type of successful Chinese occupation of Vietnam, or at least a part of it, that places the Chinese minority in charge. Unless only sovereign states are counted, this Chinese puppet state would count.
