ahc: Charlemagne conquers England

Didn't he have enough problems unifying Gaul and West Germania as it was?

Britain was disunited at the time-and I'm not sure about Frankish naval capabilities. I doubt they were that good.

If it did happen...Britain would be more tied to the continent than it was in the second half of the first millennium. Which would have more than a few butterflies with regards to succession claims and what not.

Remember this is at the time of the Mercian supremacy which was loosely supported by Charlemagne.
Best he could do is temporarily detach Kent and maybe Sussex.

Even if he conquers a (small portion) of it, he wouldn't keep it. It probably would go into the inheritance of Charles. Likely he would just move in to conquer/put a loyal person in charge, and have them swear faulty to him and pay tribute like the Bretons, Croats, Avars, etc.
