AHC: Cesare Borgia Unifies Italy

With a POD no later than 1503, have Cesare Borgia unite, at the least, from the Alps to the boot's tip by 1520 under either his personal rule or that of a Borgia-friendly Pope.

For bonus points, have him conquer Sardinia and Sicily as well.

For extra bonus points, do it before his OTL death (1507).

Could be not totaly bad - I am told the Borgia weren't maybe so.. unholy as posed as by history.

Cesare's father was bad, but most of the terrible cruelty attributed to Cesare himself was actually conceived of and carried out by his right-hand man, Michelotto Corella. Cesare himself was an immensely capable general and a highly intelligent man.

Patricide, especially when your father is the Pope, might be frowned upon by the rest of Europe.

This, of course, assumes that one is caught, and that there is definative proof. Other Borgias *cough Lurcrezia/father cough* got away with lots of stuff that would have been "frowned on by the rest of Europe.

um he used him to carry out acts he needed done and then when he was done with those acts got rid of him as his scapegoat. Read Machiavelli he points it out right in there

Would this italy have to include most or all of mainland Italy in our timeline? One could get from the Alps to the toe of the boot without including, say, Genoa.

I would see Sicily as not terribly likely, seeing as it's not part of the kingdom of Italy, and is one of the Aragonese crowns

Sicily is not part of the boot, rather it's being kicked by the boot:p

(Yes, I know that at various times the Kingdom of Sicily extended to the southern portion of the mainland too)
