AHC: Catholic England, Protestant France

Catholic England - Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon have living, healthy son or Richard III wins at Bosworth Field (victory of any another Plantagenet should work too.)
Protestant French -Let Hugenots win French Wars of religion.

Here's one:

Prince Arthur Tudor lives and becomes King (Catholic England achieved)

The French set up a second Avignon Pope during the Italian wars and start to break off from the Church.

Henry VII died a couple of years later than OTL or Henry VIII used his head (instead of something else) when deciding his wedding and kept his betrothal to Eleanor of Austria. They had children, Charles V also married his betrothed Mary Tudor (the elder) and England is strongly allied with the Habsburg. Meanwhile Francis I or his heir will end converting to Protestantism for whatever reason

Why would it do that? The French are presumably claiming that their candidate is the true Pope, if they start adopting Protestantism they end up wrecking their own position.
True, but the things is since this Avignon Church last longer differences will inevitably emerged. Henry VIII basically did this except he was the Pope.

Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Oriental Orthodoxy have more in common than any of them do with Protestantism, and they've been separated for much longer.

Yes, that’s what I mean, they’ll be considered different Churches but have a lot of similarities

Will an England without a Henrician Reformation stay Catholic, though? Given the strong trade contacts with Germany, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands?

I believe in the 1400's that the French crown was given extra special powers in regards to bishop appointment. If you can prevent this, the Capets have reason for wanting out of the church.
Traditionally most major monarchs had permission to appoint bishops. England had just as much of not more power over appointment and investing as did the French. Not having access to investiture did not and will not cause a Protestant reformation.

But they did. They just get betrayed by the claimant they backed as king.
