AHC: Carthaginian colonies in Gaul and Britain?

Deleted member 97083

Could the Carthaginians have founded trading colonies on the Atlantic coasts of Gaul and Britain? Perhaps Hanno the Navigator could go north instead, and follow the route of Pytheas?

Would the copper and tin mining in Cornwall be an advantageous resource for Punic traders to control directly?

Well, there is always Poul Anderson's King Of Ys 4 book epic about the Breton legend of Ys, in which Ys is a Carthaginian colony that breaks off from Carthage after it's destruction. That counts as the Atlantic coast of Gaul, but I have never heard of an actual colony of Carthaginians in Britain or France being discovered, not that that means anything.

There is a documented travel north by the Carthanian traveler Himilco. Carthage apparently traded with Britain but had no need to establish colonies there.
