AHC: Carlist Spain becomes a great power

Challenge: with a POD from 1830s, make the Carlists succeed in taking the throne of Spain, and turning it to a great power, becoming a major colonizing Power in Africa and Asia (and maybe the West Indies and Latin America), and becoming a major player in the world.

That's a pretty hefty wish list, just keeping what they had and going on to become a second rate power would be Herculean enough.
