AHC: Build Walt Disney's Ski Resort

In the 1960s, Walt Disney was obsessed with buildng a ski resort named Mineral King. Make his dream become a reality.

well in the long run it'd probably get some extra mileage out of Frozen :p

i could see this having eventual origins and a basic structure similar to the Disney cruise lines: basically, being the same as any other high-budget ski resort, just with a Disney coating (though keep in mind i've never been on a Disney cruise--or ANY cruise, for that matter--so i'm assuming that Disney cruises are similar to others, just with their famous characters and some activities, etc., based on them)

I don't know if it would of lasted. But for sure it would have to be based in So Cal being in the 60's so ether of the two Big Bear resorts or Mountain High would have to be bought by Walt.

It was, specifically at a new site (the Mineral King valley) in the Sequoia National Park, which the Forest Service had wanted to develop since 1949, when the Sierra Club backed the proposals. When Disney announced their intentions in 1965, the Sierra Club switched its stance and opposed them, tying the project up in courts and egg environmental impact statements until Disney lost interest.

Have the Sierra Club remain on board with the proposals, and it might very well happen.

Disney was an environmentalist for his day, and favored conservation. It was his intent that a lot of the land around WDW remain undeveloped, partly to conserve the natural habitat. (Of course, it's also for to providing a buffer zone and using some of the natural services for the parks.) Perhaps if Disney gets more personally involved, we might not just see a new business for Disney, but also influencing changes in other ski resorts.
