Quoting from the Wikipage:
The Boers and the British both feared the consequences of arming Africans. The memories of the Zulu and other tribal conflicts were still fresh, and they recognised that whoever won would have to deal with the consequences of a mass militarisation of the tribes. There was therefore an unwritten agreement that this war would be a "white man's war."
So let's say the British become desperate due to the prolonged nature of the conflict and lack of success in the battlefield. And let's also say the Boers begin gaining international sympathy, either from the President being less reactionary or else. In this situation, what does it take for the British to decide to arm the Zulus and other African tribes? How much will they arm them? How much success can that get for the British? What will be the ramifications?

Just a question I thought I might ask.
