AHC: British Republic

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to have the Kingdom of Great Britain become a democratic republic after the loss of the 13 Colonies and the foundation of the United States, by 1810. Bonus points if it stays this way and allied to the USA till the modern day.

The reason this is a challenge rather than a straight up WI is because Britain had already had a republican revolution a hundred years ago and that didn't turn out so well, so they might not want to try again. Tat, and Britain was pretty democratic for the most part anyways, so there aren't many reasons for them to want to change anything. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Oh, POD is 1783.

A failure to pass the great reform act, coupled with the fact that at that time the monarchy was vastly unpopular, and there was massive social discontent over the impact of rapid industrialisation, makes the 1830s the ideal time for a British revolution. Go into shared worlds, I've just started a map game on the same subject https://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?p=7864957#post7864957

I'd say a slight amendment simply to say industrial discontent coupled with ear exhaustion, but really 1810 isnt a realistic date

Whoops. Didn't notice that thread. I guess that, since the premise is basically the same, a mod can close this down.
