AHC: Brazil and Angola one country

With a POD in 1800, have Brazil and Angola as one country for at least 20 years. This means at least having one common head of state, a shared currency, common embassy etc. Portugal has to be a completely seperate entity and cannot be a part of the country in any way.

If Portuguese monarch who flees to Brazil after an alt Peninsular war, and then Portugual either becomes permanently puppeted, or a republic might mean Angola and the other colonies fall to Brazil

The treaty that secured Brazilian independence explicitly acknowledged that Brazil had declined any claim to Portuguese colonies in Africa. When the discussion was still ongoing, there was one member of the Emperor's privy council (the council of state) who supported the idea of claiming Angola, with the purpose of maintaining the flux of slaves. The Emperor declined that.

These are the only known occurrences that I'm aware of Brazil annexing Angola. Both countries share a long history, it's true, mostly unknown among Brazilians. Brazilian troops were sent to fight in Angola during the colonial era, especially against the Dutch and the slave trade mostly came from Angola.

I recall seeing a Napoleonic-victory TL where Portugal's colonial empire collapsed because of some wankish French activity. Brazil made a protectorate out of Angola and eventually assimilated it. I can't recall what the TL was called, though, or if it was even on this website.

OTL, Angola was practically a colony of Brazil until Brazil's independence. Brazil would have much liked to make it official after independence, but quite realistically knew they weren't in any position to attain it.

the easiest way is to have Napoleon successfully take over Portugal, either by sticking to the original plan, or having the Spanish takeover be successful. From there, the crown is permanently settled in Brazil, and Angola is part of the empire. Or alternately, enough time passes before portugal regains independence from France/Spain and Brazil is strong enough to dictate terms at their own independence. Perhaps Portugal decides to go republic, and the rest of the empire sticks with the crown.

Almost a colony? This implies that Brazil had significant role in the administration and enactment of policies in Angola, which it didn't. Both countries had close "commercial" ties mainly because of the slave trade, but also of other goods. But to claim that Angola was "almost a colony of Brazil" ignores facts.
