AHC: Braganza-wank

Have the House of Braganza, while retaining Portugal, acquire the Crown of Spain and Naples.

Edit: Bonus if they can unify Italy instead of Sardinia.

A dispute between the Hapsburg leaders results in the Emperor Leopold marrying Claudia Felicitas of Austria-Tyrol as his first wife. His historical wife Margarita is given to the King of Portugal when peace is made, providing a a Braganza heir for her brother in due time.

Obviously the Spanish Netherlands and Milan are lost to France, colonies split, but Spain and Naples are Braganza'd.

Dom Pedro I does not die in 1834, he is crowned emperor of the Iberian peninsula as desired by Spanish liberals.

If he lives a few more decades the Italian liberals might turn to him te replace the Italian Bourbons. You would have a true Latin Roman Empire reborn. Make Pedro II succeed him and you'll have an awesome Empire.

It's sort of a wacky one, and I have no idea of the technicalities of it (but I thinks it's more feasible than the prior TL of Pedro I taking it all):

OTL, Carlotta (eldest child of King Charles IV, spain), is married to the prince Regent Joao VI of Portugal. OTL, around 1800, she actively conspired to wrest control of the country from her hubby. Let's say she succeeds. Joao is either powerless or has ended up taking a dirt nap. Now, the 3 sons of Charles meet up with various bizarre demises. Don't know the Spanish crown succession rules, but Carlotta is a devious wench (both OTL and TL) so she worms her way to top of the succession chain. Lo and behold, doesn't Charles find his way to six feet under, and viola, Carlotta is Queen supreme of Spain and Portugal. Her heirs are Braganza, so Pedro I (who knows what number he actually ends up, since technically he's Pedro IV of Portugal, and I don't know if Spain already has any Pedro's) ends up king when Carlotta dies, befittingly of a mysterious trip down a flight of stairs.

This could automatically butterfly away the French invasion of Portugal, since Portugal is now merged with Spain, friend of France. That, in turn, butterflies away the invasion of Spain, as the Portuguese invasion was a prime catalyst and enabler of the Spanish takeover.

Perhaps, if you want to get really wacky, adding the Portuguese fleet to Spain/France and changing up circumstance, Trafalgar goes down differently. It takes a real wank to reverse the victor, but merely changing the date (hence weather conditions) and numbers might alter it from complete rout to a draw. Oh, hell, we're already on the border of ASB, so we'll create a Portuguese sea captain who saves the day, and Britain's attack is countered by a competent leader instead of the hack they actually faced. Britain no longer is the supreme ruler of the seas.

How Italy gets scarfed up is beyond me.
