This may be a bit ASB-ish.
I've read many articles on Transdiffusion about how ITV started broadcasting in the late afternoon/early evening. This was due to government restrictions.
What if for whatever reasons both ITV and BBC1 had the same restrictions beyond 1972. If Granada etc started at say 6 PM and closed down after midnight (no breakfast tv) what kind of social effects would that have?
(NB BBC 2 would broadcast schools programmes and then close down until the evening)
